Against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel's First Family is forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, while defending Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer.
I genuinely think this is one of the best marvel movies they’ve made and the best adaptation of the Fantastic four, it’s a surprisingly grounded story despite the stakes that centres on the family. It has a really nice use of ‘show don’t tell’ with the first five minutes, it gives you a view of who the characters are, their backstory’s, relationships, personalities and how they got their powers in a quick and easily digestible way that feels organic to the story!
The use of music in this movie is also incredible I really love how it’s done, this along with the visuals and very thought out world building of Earth-828 gives this movie an aesthetic I don’t think other marvel movies will be able to top
My only criticism honestly is that it could have been a good 20-30 minutes longer which in all honestly is more a compliment to the writing , there were scenes in the trailer not in the final movie that I was bummed to find out were not because we were missing action or important story plot points but just because I wanted to see more of the characters and how they interact, the actors did brilliantly, in fact everyone who worked on this movie did brilliantly
I can’t wait to see more of them in doomsday and Secret wars and honestly hopefully after those two because I honestly love these guys they could make ten more stories of just them hanging out and I would be thrilled!
10/10 hope they release an extended cut because I need more of this!!

Following the famous advice 'Show, don't tell', the team Marvel starts the movie with a banger; in those first 5 to 7 minutes they really cracked the formula on how to show an origin story of the heroes. And the rest is great! The Family, the story, THE MUSIC - Michael Giacchino did a great job ONCE AGAIN! The jokes are good - I chuckled a few times. The tone is light and the visuals spectacular.
And finally, they did Sue ok. When she takes the matter into her own hands, it really matters. It has a meaning, a deep and heavy one. She's not a (your typical) girl-boss. You'll see.
The cast did great, because the script is great! I was a bit concerned about Pedro, but he's ok, really. You don't have to worry about him.
Welcome back, Marvel! 10/10.

This film doesn't have much of the action or comedy you'd expect from a Marvel film.
Instead, it delivers a great story, fantastic characters, and a unique visual style within the MCU. It's the kind of film that, when it ends, makes you want to watch it again and again.
One of the best films in the entire MCU, they truly returned to the glory days.
**A tribute at the end to the King Kirby elevates this film even further in my eyes, well done Marvel.**

I guess this is a 73 because people rated a movie without seeing it as usual. This movie is a blast and easily the best Fantastic Four movie.
It is smart how we are brought up to date on the history of the Fantastic Four in the first five minutes. It is like the beginning of Up but full of a bunch of Fantastic Four history comic fans should love.
I admit that I too thought Pedro Pascal was miscast. Until I saw the movie. You think of him as Reed Richards pretty much as soon as the movie starts.
Everyone is good in their role. It’s also surprising how well a Fantastic Four movie was made. When I admit I like the 2005 movie and its sequel. I also sort of like the 1994 movie and even the 2015 one is growing on me.
This Fantastic Four movie has the most emotion, and tension. It is the least goofy and has the best performances. We got a Fantastic Four movie that is engaging start to finish.

Fantastic Movie! Great introduction of the characters. Also the trick with post credit scene from Thunderbolts made me crazy. Whole movie I was waiting for that moment to happen or my answer for every problem they had was that they will probably do it as a solution.

I honestly don’t get the complaints I’ve seen floating around. People saying it lacked humor, that it was too serious or lacked team chemistry? We must’ve watched different movies. I didn’t see what they saw.
Fantastic Four: First Steps was exactly what I needed from the MCU right now; a clean break from the juvenile, wink-wink meta humor of Taika Waititi and James Gunn. No forced gags, no side-eye punchlines every two minutes. Just solid storytelling with stakes, heart, and a tone that actually respects the material.
I thought the family dynamic was well handled. Ben Grimm, played beautifully by Ebon Moss-Bachrach, gave the role the tenderness and gravitas it always deserved. He’s the emotional anchor here, and honestly, I fell in love with him. Johnny Storm, usually written as the cocky comic relief, actually had depth this time. That sequence where he deciphers the Silver Surfer’s language was smart, tense, and incredibly satisfying. One of the best moments in the whole film.
And speaking of Surfer, Julia Garner gave her this unsettling stillness, like she was always holding back something immense. It worked. Even Galactus, who some called too flat, made sense to me. He’s a cosmic force, not a therapist with daddy issues. He doesn’t need a “relatable motivation.” His existence is his motivation.
The aesthetics? Perfect. The retro-futuristic style wasn’t just window dressing, it gave the film a personality. The music by Michael Giacchino elevated everything; it was lush and nostalgic without being overbearing. I did notice the CGI baby (Franklin) looked off in a few moments, but that’s nitpicking. Most of the time it worked fine, and the concept of a child being born with the potential to reshape reality added real tension to Sue’s arc.
Is it perfect? No. There are a couple of science moments that made me raise an eyebrow (the hyperlight travel mechanics in particular) but honestly, it didn’t break immersion for me. It’s not trying to be hard sci-fi. It’s a comic-book film with flair, soul, and a little bit of wonder.
This felt like Marvel remembering how to be bold again. Not loud. Not silly. Just bold.
