Grief, the hate in these comments...

I went in to this with no expectations at all really. To me, this movie was clever, refreshing and different in a way that only the first Matrix movie had previously achieved. The Meta elements here are absolute genius.

This really blew me away.

I missed Neo and Trinity.
I still miss the real Morpheus.
Real... there's that word again...

I for once thought this movie was a great end to this franchise, I think it was thoughtfully made and the special effects were incredibly visually pleasing. As a franchise supposed to describe the experience of a transgender person I think it did a really great job of completing the red thread of the story!

I really liked it.
The only things I didn't like was that really slow apple scene and the cutesy bots. I always liked their love story. I always liked that they had each other's back 100%. I liked the subtle things like how their reflections were different than what they were seeing. I really liked that the meaning of "the One" had shifted to mean, together, they are "the One", especially since he was always so uncomfortable with it. Now she can shine and he can be her support like she was for him all those years. These characters complement each other.
I'm glad I watched it.

Also, I get buzz words but, does almost every other comment have to have the word META in it? I feel like I'm in the Matrix and there's a glitch somewhere. It's freaking me out.

I don't know where all the negative comments are coming from. I loved this sequel.

The Matrix Resurrections keeps to the theme of the original movie, while leveraging plot points from the previous sequels to resurrect the Neo ❤ Trinity love story
after 20 years (according to the movie timeline it's 60 years)
.

The Matrix movie critics love to over-intellectualize the philosophy of the story arcs and characters. Over the last 20 years, I've heard critics trying to justify religion (ex: Buddhism) using the Matrix movies. Today, reading the comments here, this seems to have evolved into people trying to explain transgenderism using The Matrix (maybe because the creators of Matrix are transgender?).

I always believed that these movies oppose group think and are about breaking free from hive-minds and intellectual-echo-chambers (aka The Matrix). For example, Twitter today, with its Leftist cancel mobs, is a great example of a Matrix. Every time I read about a famous person getting "cancelled" or "de-platformed" by a social media platform, I picture an image of Neo being dragged out of the embryonic sac and getting violently unplugged by machines and thrown away (from the original Matrix movie).

For me, as a career software engineer, The Matrix movies are also about algorithms and logic. The unpredictability of a code base as it gets larger and complex. Eventually, leading to anomalies and vulnerabilities. I loved Neil Patrick Harris' performance as the new Architect of the Matrix. What a legend!

Is the franchise getting stale? Absolutely. It's a formula movie franchise. I watched all Fast and the Furious movies and the spin-offs too. I'm not the one to judge.

-----
Update May/2025 : I'm watching this in 4K HDR10+ and it's like watching a whole new movie. Highly recommend watching The Matrix Resurrections in this format instead of just HD.

I didn't have much hope for this movie based on Hollywoods trends but I was wrong. If you still don't like it after watching I guess it's because your a sheep or just another NPC hell bent on preventing the awake ones from achieving their maximum potential.

WOW! This definitely harkens back to the original. I love how they interweaved the new story with the original storyline.
The story was compelling. The action was fun. The graphics were great - granted there were no scores and scores and scores of Mr. Smiths in the same scene.
Quite frankly, this would be a great place to switch over to a streaming series format to keep the story going.

How I rate:
1-3 ❤ = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6 ❤ = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8 ❤ = I expect you will like this too
9-10 ❤ = movies and TV shows I really love!
