Another great holiday horror. It's scary, tense, and overall provides disorienting but fun experience. It follows Eva, who's been paraplegic for the past three years. She receives a strange advent calendar as a birthday gift. But instead of the traditional sweets, every day reveals something different, sometimes pleasant but often terrifying, and increasingly bloody. It's a film about consequences of what you wish for. Feels more dark comedy to me and it's one of those film that require you to throw logic out of the window to enjoy it. The whole film is ridiculous and nonsensical. There are so many different elements and amazingly all of those played out so harmoniously. I was totally invested. The performance of Eugénie Derouand is highly convincing. It's also well-shot and the deaths are inventive. The ending isn't as satisfying as I'd hope but overall, a nicely done suspenseful Christmas horror.

24 doors, 24 days, 24 mysteries, some treats, some tricks but what's guaranteed is a whole lot of fun and suspence! I love the concept every doors mysteries were well-thought-out and the creepy antique calendar looks amazing I couldn't look away when it was on-screen, I want one! Ich the entity was a great addition he got more exposition than I expected which brings down the scare a bit but I definitely wanted more of him and his backstory. The main character was quite likable and relatable. The kills are inventive but the camera cuts away from the gore often, although it's not the case for all of them. I wanted so much more from the blue pill scene I felt like they held out on so much in that one. Solid story, great acting, the ending was satisfying and it has a strong message about sacrifice. A Christmas horror classic I revisit yearly, to be watched while eating chocolates!

I thought it was pretty good. Remind me never to steal an advent calendar from a seedy German dude.

Sorry to be a party pooper, especially for a holiday movie.
Swagnep’s **SCARE Movie Rating Scale**:

**Setup, Pacing and Ending** (Max 3 Points)
Premise was interesting. Good pacing but many inconsistencies in the rules and consequences. Not a good enough movie IMO to have that ending. 1.5 points.

**Characters, Acting and Dialogue** (Max 3 Points)
Caricatures of evil characters. The main character is not very likable. Some odd choices by the characters. A generous 1.5 points.

**Audio, Visuals and Movement** (Max 2 Points)
1 point. The character effects are not very convincing

**Resonance (emotional impression)** (Max 1 Point)
No points.

**Enjoyment (bonus point for any reason)** (Max 1 Point)
No enjoyment points.

_Summary:_
4 points. Better to buy and enjoy a bag of cheap chocolates, the ones with raisins.

There are more than chocolates and religious pictures in this advent calendar! This horror movie doesn't hold up all the way to the end but it still has many effective moments.
