I think I might need to watch this a second time and concentrate a bit more intensely on it cos it seemed like it deserves intensity from the viewer to match it's own level.
Like farming: bleak, gritty and intense.
This rural thriller is reminiscent of 2022's As Bestas, yet where the Franco-Spanish tormentor ascended its story to touch on universal themes, this Irish production is quite satisfied telling you that families and sheep breeding are tough.
While I wasn't a big fan of the structure (the same scenes from different characters' points of view), Barry Keoghan remains one of the most exciting actors working today.
Halfway through this movie is feels as if your heading towards an all time revenge thriller and man does this movie lose its way. Great acting, tension, and setup, just to end up leaving the theater unsatisfied.i think the last act keeps this from being a recommend.
I was looking forward to this as I was expecting actual farmyard 'beef'. I mean, it's called 'Bring Them Down'. The only thing brought down were my eyelids. Two whole hours following boring characters doing boring things. An hour each on one story told from different points of view. Both are barely consistent enough to tell any straightforward story. I haven't seen much of Christopher Abbott, but his career feels like one long, predictable character.
