Such a good wonderful movie, love when stories really put you in the protagonist shoes as much as possible for a film. You really walk out of this one changed, that’s a sign of a good movie. 9/10
Easily can see it as a 10/10 might need more rewatches.
Life of Chuck is kind of sappy, very sentimental, completely Flanagan and it’s safe to say the Mystery Movie audience hated it
I don’t really know what to say, you can go with it or not. To me it is very affecting and I can tell it is going to stay with me a while.
Wow, what a movie! Don't read any spoilers; go into this one blind and enjoy the experience. It is, in turn, heartwarming and sad.
The structure is interesting and the opening does feel a little long and less engaging then what comes after, but as a reverse payoff for the ultimate message of the movie it retroactively feels right. By default, I'm anti-narration, but this movie serves as another reminder that when the writing is good (and maybe when you have Nick Offerman) it can work. Chuck's two key dance scenes are setup and executed beautifully and I couldn't help but grin throughout. I exited the theater feeling very appreciative of the beautiful moments life contains and wanting to live in a way to create more of those moments, which is a pretty incredible thing for a movie to accomplish.
TIFF audiences love their schmaltz. Then again, Mike Flanagan can do no wrong.
Like fusion comfort food: totally wholesome and way out there.
I'm not familiar with the source material (a Stephen King short story), but Mike Flanagan does a wonderful job marrying the supernatural with human nature, and the human natural result captures the essence of a multitude of lives inside one life.
Never know what you will get for the secret movie so it's the risk you play. Wasn't a bad movie, just not the type of movie I would go the theater to watch.
LOVE Stephen King, had not read the novellla so wasn't sure what to expect. I would recommend to those that like dramatic off beaten sci-fi movies. Definitely go in with an open mind or you may be disappointed.
https://trakt.tv/movies/the-life-of-chuck-2025 If you decide to subject yourself to this movie, I know what you will be saying. Thirty minutes in, you will say, “When will this be over?” Thirty minutes later, you’ll ask again, “Will this be over soon?” Another thirty minutes, another time you’ll ask. After 39 years, you will finally find the end of the movie.
Some movies like to explore the multiverse; The Life of Chuck decided to instead explore the Multi-cuck. Multiple times, it will make you think maybe something interesting or something fun is coming. No, nothing is coming. Nothing interesting is on the horizon. There are no ghosts. There are no aliens. There is nothing but 39 years of lifeless, meaningless, boring movie…
This movie wasn't my cup of tea, I was extremely bored watching this.
