I personally loved this film, i loved the first but this actually made me happy to know there will be more. I really enjoyed this and for me it was a perfect film that i would watch again with the first sometime.
8 + 1 to counteract the undeserved low rating. While it's not as exciting as the first installment, it does significantly expand the Old Guard universe and has plenty of action along the way.
Was really happy to see these guys on the screen again, but the script was weak. They should have made the film longer to develop the new and old characters and relationship between them, dunno, many conversations just didn't feel organic, sometimes felt rushed and didn't have as much an emotional impact as they were going for. And idk if it's just me, but the directing felt off, with all these zooms and etc it felt as if I was watching sit com instead. But the fights were really, really cool. In all, compared to the first film this one felt more like a generic action film, which is sad, because I really love these characters.
I like this sequel, even if the story is a bit artificial, forcing the story in the way they want it to go in order to make the third movie.
Unfortunately, this leads to irrational character behaviour and requires sudden new magical things to happen in order for it to work.
But to be fair, the bas story is already about a kind of “Highlander” magic, so you should not expect realism from the rest of the movie.
A good action movie that you should watch for the fun of it and not think too much about the realism of the story.
Not that bad, but funny how the first movie was all about genetics, and now it's just magic.
I did enjoy this, but definitely not a patch on the first film. As it now paves the way for a third sequel I hope it also ups its game and gets back to the standard of the original.
Definitely a step down from it’s predecessor. Half of what made the first movie so good was that there was a lot of mystery. Once you pull back the curtain and say oh there are actually more immortals and they have all been running around. Also that it’s been thousands of years they never once worked out how to gain and lose immortality until it’s all worked out in the span of like a week? Overall I’m happy to get some expanded lore I just feel like if they had done more of what happened in the first movie this would have done a whole lot better.
Not sure what to make of it exactly. After 5 years of waiting, I expected more than what feels like a "filler" sequel before the third and last part.
One more comment. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see how Booker gave Andy his immortallity?.. 🙈 🤔
Will always love this one to have a next instalment but could have strengthened the script for this part rather than thinking for the future. And for godsake please don’t make these kinda badass movie in a runtime of less than 2 hrs which is a shame!!!
