Solid film. A little slow despite being 90 minutes. However I thought all the characters were interesting and I cared about them. Every set/location was something I just wanted to explore and take pictures of. Plus there was some pretty good/fun camera work.
While I did guess that the creepy guy at the beginning was evil (the film practically tells you), I did not guess that the elderly woman he brought with him was also part of the scheme. Also there was a lot of water imagery that I guess was just for flavor? A lot of drowning deaths/imagery, raining, lawn sprinkler splashing on the windshield, bf is a firefighter, etc. Couldn't find like a "meaning" for it I guess is what I'm saying. Not that that's a detractor for me.
Streamed via Shudder

Catching up before it's leaving Shudder. Creepy and unsettling super slow-burn Australian horror thriller undoubtedly inspired by some classic giallo films. It's so absurd and visually pleasing. Kinda difficult to sit through because it's sometimes too slow and not much happening but the ending and the tension made up for it. It's very well directed, has fantastic setting, gorgeous shots, great atmosphere, plus decent acting. Not sure about the score.

Isolated retirement home in a sleepy Australian town where strange occurrances and eerie deaths seem to be happening more and more in the days after inheriting the home from her recently passed mother.

Overall, the story is pretty simple and unfortunately doesnt do much of anything or go anywhere until the last 20minutes where it really picks up the pace. The script sort of just exists with "scary" unexplained scene after scene.

It's got great isolated, creepy atmosphere and a very minimal soundtrack which helps, I'll give it that, but otherwise good for a once through.
