Dark Water

Dahlia Williams and her daughter Cecelia move into a rundown apartment on New York's Roosevelt Island. Dahlia is in the midst of divorce proceedings, and the apartment, though near an excellent school for her daughter, is all she can afford. From the time she arrives, there are mysterious occurrences—and there is a constant drip from the ceiling in her daughter's bedroom…
I must be an outlier, because I enjoyed the movie. But I wasn't part of the target audience for this movie. I'm a dad with one kid who I love more than anything else, and "Dark Water" hits every note for a parent struggling with the day to day hassles of life. I got emotional during the ending scene in the elevator.
John C. Reilly is phenomenal as a sleazy realtor/land lord. Tim Roth is as good, if not better, as a lawyer working out of his car and sleeping in movie theaters due to his own crisis.
Oh, and I will watch anything with Jennifer Connelly.
