Trolls Band Together

Omggggg this was amazing. as usual i love the energy and songs. the jokes (including suggestive ones) were funnyyy. the trolls movies are always a viewer's chicken soup for the soul. this one's 2nd best after the og- the boy band scenes had me kicking my feet and giggling.

Probably the best overall film of the trilogy. It's a little less interesting than the 2nd film, but I think it's made up for with a much tighter script, more focused musical sequences, less characters muddling the story beats, and some really killer jokes. Like actually, this film has hands and it will pull the most unhinged shit out of nowhere to smack you across the face with it. I don't care how it makes me look, I like the Trolls movies and I'm done feeling bad about that. They're a lot of fun in spite of their more obvious flaws, and I think in general people could be a lot less weird about them in film critique circles. These are NOT Dreamworks' version of Sing and I am sick to death of that comparison, especially when these movies are so much more invested in trying to have an identity.

It’s somewhat better than the usual lazy 3rd sequel. Where a lot of the cast has siblings suddenly. Especially the 3rd movie subplot of having a sibling they didn’t know about.
Add that to the movies being all non-stop energy and hit songs that you’re drained before we start getting to the plot of the movie.
The first film is the least just loud and incoherent.

This one was fun. Predictable, but fun. Music is enjoyable. The boy band jokes release dopamine in my millennial brain. I’m okay it they stop here with the series, but you know they’re not over yet.

The music is the main attraction for this series, back up by a very by the numbers but we'll executed storyline.

Not unwatchable, but this should be the end of the series. Seriously. Let it go.

'Trolls Band Together' is a better watch than 'Trolls World Tour', even if it still makes for forgettable viewing for me. The characters of Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake remain likeable leads, they star in a story that is slightly more interesting than last time out.

I must say, and this isn't a major deal given these flicks don't exactly aim to be anything more than light family entertainment, that the worldbuilding in these films is rather rubbish. It feels like all three movies are set in differing universes, they look and feel like separate things.

That pink eye joke, if only due to Kenan Thompson's part in it as Tiny Diamond, did make me laugh, so at least it produced something. Otherwise, these sequels have fallen flat; not made for me and all that, I know.
