'The Scorpion King' isn't one to take seriously, but based on sheer entertainment factor I did suitably enjoy this. It was, at least for yours truly, a fairly breezy 90 minutes, they did a solid job at keeping the action paced well across that run time. The casting is good too.

Dwayne Johnson isn't the best actor here in terms of how he says his lines and all that (his acting has improved since), but I'd say he makes up for that by fulfilling the physicality requirements. Michael Clarke Duncan, Kelly Hu, Grant Heslov and Bernard Hill are ones I liked seeing too.

Steven Brand is the only actor that I wasn't sold on whilst watching. I do think his Memnon character is just about passable, but at the same time I'd consider him as the weakest link. Elsewhere, the special effects seemed minimally used (at least compared to the originals) - that's a plus.

It always fascinates me when I find out about these sorta franchises, simply because it is somewhat difficult to believe that they could produce five releases and have none of them enter my knowledge - until now, of course. I am interested in checking them out though, no question.

Not a award winning movie by any stretch of the imagination. It's Dwayne Johnson doing what he does best. But for a quick 90 min entertainment with some action and fun ? Why not, I have seen much worse.

It's corny, cheesy and cartoonish at time but it knows it's all these things and fully embraces it.

A kind of prequel to the Mummy movies. While technically and visually great, the story and the acting are pretty average. For fans

So, The Scorpion King…

What's there to say?!? It's not a particularly well written movie, but it has its moments. Especially some action scenes are quite well done. The acting, however, is not all that good. That might be because they had a rather lackluster script to act out, or they are just plain awful actors. I choose to believe it's a bit of both.

Anyway… I'm not sure why I'm not all into The Scorpion King, as I love stupid adventure movies, but this one doesn't really do it for me…even though Kelly Hu is REALLY hot in this. It might be because Dwayne Johnson's hero is an old world monster in The Mummy Returns, but who knows. I just know I don't really care for this one…

A spin-off of The Mummy series, _The Scorpion King_ is a fun sword and sandals film. The story follows an Akkadian warrior named Mathayus who’s hired to assassinate a warlord’s sorcerer, but he’s betrayed and left for dead. Starring The Rock, Kelly Hu, and Michael Clarke Duncan, the cast is pretty solid, and they do a good job at handling the campiness of the material. Also, the action scenes are dynamic and have a lot of energy to them. However, the script is rather weak, with a fairly generic plot and poorly written dialog. Yet despite its problems, _The Scorpion King_ is a lighthearted and entertaining action film.

Why dose The Rock look like a PS2 cut scene in this movie?

And who thought it was a great idea to make a spin-off for the worst CGI character in 'The Mummy Returns'. I mean was he the bad guy in that movie?

I saw this a ton as a kid and remembered liking it and thinking it was the same level of quality as The Mummy but it's not. It still is very silly and seeing The Rock kill a bunch of people and make funny faces is somewhat entertaining.
