I do understand why there's such low rating to this cinematic art on IMDb. You need immense patience to understand and to feel the beauty behind an art. This movie is something that most of our "generational 15 seconds audience" will hate to sit through it and it's understandable. Not everyone deserves great art.
But I know one person does more than anyone. William Dafoe. He is THE ART.
I love movies set in a single place, and especially if there's just one character. This made it so much better since Willem Dafoe is one of my favourite actors and he can definetly carry a movie like this on his own. Very well written, since it was set up as an art heist but he ends up making the art himself. Like the colossal sculpture in the middle of the room, which has an obvious meaning. And the altar to his freedom. The art collected by the owner is pretentious compared to what Dafoe is creating just to survive. I have a feeling I'll watch this movie quite a few times just to find discover more. If you don't like slow movies, this definetly isn't for you. But for the people that do, this is a treat.
Great movie - it's a pretty slow burn to the punchline, but successfully builds tension throughout. DeFoe is amazing. Recommend for those who like something a bit different , just ignore the bad reviews - it's not an action heist film (thankfully).
Very slow, but Willem Dafoe is amazing.
READ THIS FIRST. Look, there is one character. Things happen to him, but not much. There is some dialogue in the first few minutes, then that’s it. From then on, he is talking to himself. Occasionally. If you think this is for you, go for it. If that sounds too weird, save yourself from having later to leave a meaningless review like “that was boring”.
i can see why people think this movie is boring. but i enjoyed it, not great, not bad either. 7 out of 10.
Dafoe makes this work, his acting is top-notch here.
“I love chicken.”
I don’t understand the mixed reviews for this one, as I enjoyed it and found it quite engaging. A one-man show from Willem Dafoe, what more could you ask for?
Inside (2023) - ❤x6
Not a lot of dialogue. Not much action. But there is a whole lot of acting. Willem Dafoe is always interesting to watch. Although I did find the ending to be a little disappointing. I was expecting
that possibly the apartment owner set him up and was making the whole thing/experience an art exhibit - would have made for a better movie in my opinion
.
How I rate:
1-3 ❤ = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6 ❤ = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8 ❤ = I expect you will like this too
9-10 ❤ = movies and TV shows I really love!
This premise is really cool, but in practice it was a bit of a letdown. The 105 minute runtime dragged and not enough really happened to justify that time. There is a much better 80 minute cut in here.
Rating: 2/5 - 65% - Not Recommended to Everyone
