Double Impact

Jean Claude Van Damme plays a dual role as Alex and Chad, twins separated at the death of their parents. Chad is raised by a family retainer in Paris, Alex becomes a petty crook in Hong Kong. Seeing a picture of Alex, Chad rejoins him and convinces him that his rival in Hong Kong is also the man who killed their parents. Alex is suspicious of Chad, especially when it comes to his girlfriend.
"Look like me? You of all people should know I would never in my life wear black silk underwear!"
It has been awhile since I've seen Double Impact but I'm happy I decided to rewatch this one today. I still love the idea of two van Damme's in a movie and I love that they just did the simple things to make them look different. Different hair style. One too nice, the other a bad boy, different clothing styles, making one smoke cigars. Great stuff. And alongside Geoffrey Lewis's epic mustache and Bolo Yeung being a badass again, you have a great recipe for a fun film.
The best bit is the finale in which we finally see a real fight between Bolo and Jean-Claude. We get Alan Scarfe being crushed by a container, we get the other van Damme vs Corinna Everson. But not before we get another round of Van Damme being proud of both his ass cheeks, a angry drunk van Damme, black silk underwear, a lovely Hong Kong setting and like always some great Van Damme slow-motion kicks.
Anyway, did anyone else notice that in the first fight scene between Bolo and van Damme, Bolo did the bloodsport combo van Damme uses in Bloodsport? Great stuff!
So yeah, Double Impact is a fun early 90's action movie.
