It is also a celebration of cinema as a language that transcends borders and cultures. Ice Merchants is a film that will warm your heart even as it shows you a cold world.

For the beautiful animation style and great music alone, I can recommend the short film "Ice Merchants" to everyone. The father-son story itself is not particularly exciting, but it takes a back seat to the technical aspects anyway. Director João Gonzalez definitely has a unique style that everyone should discover for themselves.

Simple ideas conveyed in a poetic and emotional way. Surprisingly moving.

The fact this didn't win best animated short film is a crime.

This is a true work of art. The viewer shouldn't worry too much about the parts that may not make complete sense in our physical universe. It's a beautiful fable and probably needs more than one viewing to "get" it all.
