The life of labor lawyer and dedicated family man Robert 'Bobby' Dean is turned upside down after a chance meeting with a college buddy while holiday shopping. Unbeknownst to Dean, he's just been burdened with a videotape of a congressman's assassination. Hot on the trail of this tape is a ruthless group of National Security Agents commanded by a belligerently ambitious NSA official named Reynolds. Using satellite surveillance, bugs, and other sophisticated snooping devices, the NSA infiltrates every facet of Dean's existence, tracing each physical and digital footprint he leaves while also framing him for murder. With the help of the mysterious Brill, he attempts to throw the NSA off his trail and prove his innocence.

One of my all time 'Go To' movies. Will Smith and Gene Hackman are excellent in their respective roles. Love the twists and turns.

I know it's dated by several years but this is still one of the best political thrillers out there, IMO. With the current state of affairs in our political system, the scenarios played out here in _Enemy of the State_ are far less outlandish and unthinkable than they were when this film was released nearly 25 years ago. Great cast that includes Will Smith, Gene Hackman, Jon Voight, Jack Black and others…superb acting, great musical score, and toss in a near-perfect closing and this is about as great a movie as you can get. Highly recommend this one!

Flawlessly crafted, firmly hooked on paranoia and gracefully finished. Masterpiece by T. Scott. Hackman, still listening to these conversations! Deja vu from the scene of W. Smith and the girl at the fountain is both easier and more difficult for the new generation of operatives! A film that directly asks a question that is unpleasant in its relevance.
How to draw the line between the security of the country and the privacy of personal life? If a country invades private life, then why such a country?

An action packed movie that barely has any boring parts. The supporting cast is phenomenal as well. I can barely name every actor in this movie.
The late Tony Scott was like Michael Bay but if most of his movies were good with a lot less explosions.

Great action flick. Smith and Hackman share a good chemistry, while they run through a plot that is truly frightening, especially in today's climate.
