Devastating, Staggering and Heart-wrenching

Girl in the Picture is a shocking and devastating true story of a twisted mind cum predator which leaves you stunned and emotional. The documentary focuses on a mysterious death of a 20 year old woman and whereabouts of her 2 year old son. The film is a gripping investigative documentary which utilises a mixture of archival footage, real interviews and artistically dramatized shots of actual events as they happened over time. The documentary's best part is that it highlights major part of the story about the life of the victims which concurrently make you incredibly angry and sad for different persons involved. Overall, this is one of most heartbreaking and shattering stories I have ever watched but still highly recommend it to anyone reading this.

I think the most heartbreaking thing about the story is when she died she never knew her true name and never able to meet her real parents.

It is sad that hearing all the different side of everyone's story, you could tell Suzanne didn't even know she was living in hell because she was raised that way and probably thought that was normal and that everyone else was raised the same way too. She was naive all the way and it's sad she lived such a short life the way she did.
The only lucky part was how she had people like the police officers, the book author who helped and relentlessly followed up with her case even though it happened so long ago. Technology of course played a big part and helped her out too. I wouldn't comment about who did too little or who didn't speak up but I am just glad that at the end of the day, at least they found out her real identity, set her up with a proper tombstone and it did somehow reunited her birth family. May she RIP and may lord watch over her family and those who tried to help one way or another =]
I'm mad that the biological mother of Suzie didn't try harder in looking for her lost 3 daughters. I mean the on-going case was heavily televised for a looong time and she didn't recognize her ex-husband and her own daughter???!

What happened to Suzie's younger sisters, Allison and Amy? The mother told they were probably dropped off at an orphanage. Did someone look into their whereabouts?

It feels weird grading something like this based on entertainment value. The story is really interesting (and terribly sad, of course) but this doc starts to lose steam towards the end.

In a documentary Instead of judging I would prefer to focus on the way the story is told. I am someone that does not know the real events, and the way everything unfolds is so emotional. When at the end you see the camera moving to reveal the “mother” but expression of regret on the “father’s” face is something that broke my heart. Knowing these moments, very cinematographic, are actually real people make this a very captivating documentary.

Wow. Just wow. If this was just a movie, you’d think the storyline is too much and it’s not believable at all. But here we go.
… If the birth mother cared a little more, if the high school friend would speak up, then maybe none of this would have happened. Heart shattering.
