Secret Diary of a Call Girl

Okay, so I recently binged (I rarely bing shows)
Secret Diary of a Call Girl and I gotta say, it was way better than I expected. Billie Piper is absolutely incredible as Belle. She's not just playing a sexy call girl, she's actually portraying a real person with real emotions. You really feel for her as she navigates this crazy world of high-end escorting.

At first, I thought it was gonna be all glitz and glamour, but it definitely gets darker. Belle encounters some seriously creepy clients, like that one guy who was obsessed with feet, ew! It really drives home the point that this isn't always a glamorous lifestyle and that there's a lot of exploitation and danger involved.

I loved her dynamic with Ben, her best friend. They have this really complicated, will-they-won't-they thing going on. You're never quite sure where they stand, and their relationship is honestly more interesting than any of her client relationships. It's super relatable, even if your life isn't as dramatic as hers.

The show also made me think a lot about sex work and the stigma around it. It's definitely not for everyone, and it can be pretty explicit at times, but it's a thought-provoking show that doesn't shy away from the realities of the industry.

I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for something a bit different and you're not easily offended.

I took this show with me on a trip I recently took just to have something to play during the evening. Instead I discoverd a really entertaning show which made me laugh and smile a lot despite the fact that I think this is really a very tragic story. If there is one negative, I felt the plot is to repetitive from season to season if you watch them in close succession. Billie does a great job and so does Iddo. And the music is great. Not only did they always picked the right song but the songs itself would make a playlist that I could listen to over and over again.
