Estonia

Estonia tells the story of the tragic accident of the car-ferry MS Estonia, which deeply shocked the world in the autumn of 1994. Through the moving personal stories of victims, survivors, loved ones and investigators, the eight-part series explores how it is possible that 852 people lost their lives and no one is held accountable.
[TV 2] Compared to the documentary "Estonia" (HBO Max, 2022), the focus on the investigative commission and economic interests of the different countries involved, perhaps reduces the intensity of the drama, which improves notably when through the interviews to the surviving crew are shown flashbacks of the sinking. When trying to describe the bizarre trajectory of the investigations, it loses focus on the human drama, but when it gets closer, it manages to be a series that stands out for its achieved emotional depth.
