Perfection. Amazing characters, plot, cadence... everything is reall well made.
was i suprise, every episode except 1 was a knotch higher, i could not stop, fanstactic script, really good acting, a must see
We devoured the entire Dept. Q series in one sitting and for good reason. This show sinks its claws in from the very first scene and never lets go.
The tone is cold, claustrophobic, and unrelenting. It’s not just crime drama it’s a psychological slow-burn layered with trauma, obsession, and the haunting weight of unsolved cases. The cinematography is stark and bleak, echoing the emotional wreckage of its lead, Carl Mørck. His portrayal is raw, bitter, and magnetic. You believe him. You feel the weight on him.
Assad brings the perfect contrast measured, grounded, but hiding his own storm. The chemistry between them builds gradually, believably, and by the end, it’s more than a partnership its survival.
Pacing-wise, it’s tight. Each episode digs deeper into a disturbing case while feeding into a larger, character-driven mystery. The series doesn’t waste time. It respects your attention and rewards it with brutal twists and emotionally satisfying payoffs.
If you’re into dark, intelligent crime thrillers with real emotional depth Dept. Q isn’t just worth watching. It’s unmissable.
Rating: 9.5/10
Bring on season two.
Apart from what I perceived to be a messy second episode, this really delivered.
A gritty, hard , proper British cop show.
Great characters.
Carl and Akram are a great duo, you wouldn't want to mess with these guys.
Support cast are good , Moira could do with some calming down, too angry and swears to much.
Look forward to a second season.
I’ve watched the full series and thoroughly enjoyed it. The plot, the characters, the setting, the pace through all the episodes; spot on! It’s rare I see a series I enjoy this much but I do enjoy Scottish and Scandi Crime drama. The difference is this one came with the right amount of dark humour.
Well done to the director/show runner/wtiter
I’ll be looking out for more work from Scott Frank in the future, and I really hope there’s a season two and the whole crew are involved again.
Bravo!
A good and intriguing cold case for Dept. Q. Things develope slowly, with skeletons everywhere, misdirection and murder. Plus a kidnapping as well! Some great characters and very well acted. Everyone seems to have personality problems and with this comes some great interaction. Also has a great ending to the season. A very tense episode. Akrim was brilliant! 👍 Looking forward to season 2! Well worth a watch. 👍
It's very well done, even if a bit predictable. I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end.
Great series hopefully more to come reminded me of House only the Detective version
WOW WOW WOW. I am usually not a big fan of crime series, but this was cultivating me from the beginning. Great watch would really recommend
This season was fantastic, hoping this will get renewed and have more seasons that come after to explore the characters more. But at the same time it has a good ending to make this a one off as well.
Perfection. Amazing characters, plot, cadence... everything is reall well made.
