A deeper study of the books trilogy adding a lot of stuff that was skipped and edited away from the films. Especially the childhood of Arn is better told and the politics of the kingdoms in Scandinavia at that time. It was the most expensive Nordic production at that time and in the miniseries every scene get even more scope and detail worthy of the budget. Still the books manage to give a even deeper understanding of the characters and the history, but this one comes close and at least is much more satisfying.
