Such talented storytellers. Fine show.
Surely one of the best TV series of all time. The foundations of modern fantasy movies can be found in the twilight zone. Rod Serling is a genius. Sorry for my English 😉.
Twilight Zone = G O A T !
A must see classic. Dated, but outstanding!!
Timeless classic series. Rod Serling helps set a mysterious, unique, and intriguing tone in every episode. Sharp writing, great set design, fitting performances, and solid cinematography. There aren't many shows quite like The Twilight Zone.
If you are into story lines rather than fancy graphics then this is perfect. Second last season was a bit too long. A lot of modern story lines are based on some of these episodes. Think this show was based on the show lights out.
The Twilight Zone is one of television’s most influential series—an anthology of speculative fiction that blended science fiction, horror, fantasy, and social commentary in a format that was decades ahead of its time. Created and hosted by Rod Serling, it became the blueprint for countless shows that followed. With its iconic opening theme, philosophical tone, and twist-heavy storytelling, it remains a cornerstone of genre television. But that said, like many anthologies, it’s not always consistent.
The show’s premise is simple: each episode tells a standalone story—sometimes set in the future, sometimes in small-town America, sometimes in completely surreal, abstract realities. The beauty of this format is that The Twilight Zone could be anything, try anything, and take risks other shows wouldn’t dare. And when it worked, it worked brilliantly. Episodes like “Time Enough at Last,” “Eye of the Beholder,” and “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet” are enduring classics for a reason. They're eerie, clever, and often deeply human.
But for every unforgettable gem, there’s at least one episode that feels like a swing and a miss. Some stories are overly preachy, some drag their feet, and others just don’t age well. The limitations of the era—tight budgets, early-TV pacing, and the constraints of 1950s censorship—also mean the show occasionally feels dated or slow by modern standards. It’s a show best appreciated in curated doses rather than binged straight through.
What consistently elevates the series, though, is Rod Serling himself. As creator, writer, and host, his presence defines the show. His intros and outros are perfectly delivered—poetic, ominous, and strangely comforting. His voice is one of the most iconic in TV history, and his commitment to telling stories with moral complexity gives the show its lasting weight.
While The Twilight Zone doesn’t hit every episode out of the park, it laid the groundwork for decades of genre storytelling. I give it a historically important but uneven 6/10—Rod Serling, of course, gets a 10/10.
Are we just gonna pretend that Rod Serling didn't invent like 75% of the tropes currently used in horror movies with this show
