Young Rock

As Dwayne Johnson runs for president in 2032, he takes a comedic look back at his extraordinary life through the outrageous stories of his family and youth that shaped him into the man he is today. He explores his childhood years living amid influential wrestling icons while his dad rose to fame in the business, his rebellious teenage years attending high school in Pennsylvania, and his football years teamed up with powerhouse players at the University of Miami. In his telling, Johnson explains that while his experiences have been larger than life, he remains a down-to-earth guy who still relates to the American people.

I truly enjoyed this show! I grew up with WWE, and it's pure nostalgia for me. It's a show I can watch with my kiddo, friends, family.
I've actually re-watched the season over the weekend with a friend who needed something positive, and honestly, this binge session was great for her.
André the Giant made me cry in his episode.
This is far from the greatest sitcom ever, but it was a damn easy watch. Its about wrestling, but also politics. It is a sitcom, but its also a documentary(-ish). There may not be much here to love, but there is almost nothing to dislike. I am quite disappointed this was not renewed because I looked forward to watching this every week.

Average Season Review: 7.67/10

Recommendation: At Least Give it a Whirl (For NBC Sitcom Fans)

About half of each episode is good and a little bit funny etc. The start and the end of each episode is just very boring and political. Should of really tested the concept better because it really ruined a potentially good show.

The Rock owes me 30 minutes of my life back.

Me, I love anything with The Rock in it, but even this has me scratching my head at times. Yes, I know the Ladder match wasn't a WWF original concept, but did the other promoters outside of Stampede use it? Unless Rocky was able to watch stampede wrestling in Hawaii, then how the heck would he know what a ladder match is when he was in elementary/middle school?

I've got to say I liked Young Rock.

But I don't know why it wasn't great. It started pretty poorly, but by S01E04 it was working smoothly.
Some good performances, including the young Rock, and the wrestlers. Loved the fact that many of the wrestlers were so reminiscent of the originals (how do they find . And a special callout to Ana Tuisila as everyone's Samoan Auntie.

Nicely retro (the good things, not the bad), and for people of my age who watched the wrestling, this was good.

The approach of Dwayne Johnson telling stories to Randall Park worked quite well, and allowed for a nice mix of stories and timing.

And yet, with all those great aspects didn't quite make fit together for me - it was good, but not great
