Excellent and very entertaining movie.
I knew a bit about it's history but it was well executed, i'm sorry but i do not feel sorry about them i hate Blackberry it is associated with my worst 5 years of professional life. The refused to follow technology and the new era. Yes it was a game changer and as i saw it the pioneer's but you must progress or you will die.

The hand held camera thingy and shaking (probably shoot by an iPhone, no pun intended) was outdated.

Fantastic performance by Jim, little better production value as in many scenes you can clearly notice the bald mask on his head (the lines and the cover).

Highly recommended for nerds and people who grow up with "get off the internet I need to make a call"

Imagine a Canadian company seizing over $40 billion of the U.S. market from a failing giant.

The story begins in the late 1990s, where two brilliant engineers work on developing a secure and interactive communication device for business professionals. They struggle to gain investor interest — until they meet someone who sees massive potential in their idea. From this partnership, the BlackBerry device is born, with its iconic keyboard that soon takes over the business world and becomes a symbol of success and status.

The film follows BlackBerry’s rise to the top, highlighting the company’s innovative culture and its emphasis on security. We witness its dominance over giants like Nokia and the introduction of revolutionary features like mobile email and internet browsing.

The movie is excellent — especially in the first half — showcasing the rise of a company that started from nothing and ended up holding 40% of the U.S. mobile market. The story is powerful, showing how clinging too tightly to a vision and failing to adapt can lead to downfall.

The acting is superb, with the lead characters delivering a captivating performance. The filming locations were well chosen, especially in the final act where we truly feel immersed in the corporate world. The soundtrack was average but serviceable.

Overall, the film is impressive — I highly recommend it. It’s a striking example of how a tech empire can rise and fall in the blink of an eye.

Great movie. none of the BS love story involved like in other movies. This was straight to the point and got the story acrossed. Great cast and great acting, I wouldnt have mind it was longer either.

Thoroughly fascinating to watch this unfold.

'BlackBerry' reminded me a lot of fellow 2023 flick 'Air', two movies that were in fact released within months of each other interestingly. Both are great watches, with this being one I particularly enjoyed. It's super well put together.

The two hours go by fast, the story is presented in such a way that there wasn't a single moment I was even the slightest bit uninterested - there's a great flow to proceedings. Jay Baruchel is excellent throughout, so is Glenn Howerton. The whole cast do good work, amusing to see SungWon Cho (aka ProZD) appear too!

I remember BlackBerry being huge at my high school back in the day, though based on the timeline shown in this movie it was very much during the company's spiral - guess our parents couldn't afford iPhones at that point!😂 I am still yet to own an iPhone mind you, guess I'm in the severe minority with that one. I did own a Blackberry though and I'm with Lazaridis: keyboard >>> touchscreen, all day! Same goes for buttons >>> sensors for TVs, while we're here. I'm stuck in the dark ages, I know I know.

Tangent over, this is a quality film!

I never had a Blackberry, but I vividly remember playing with my sister's Blackberry Storm and Curve, and that WAS a satisfying click! This was a very good movie with really great performances from Howerton and Baruchel.

It's fascinating, often hilarious & tragic dive into meteoric rise and catastrophic fall of Research In Motion (RIM) and its iconic smartphone. It's based on non-fiction book Losing the Signal by Jacquie McNish and Sean Silcoff.
It's what I liked the most about it. It only doesn't show rise and ends in a high, it also shows the lows and teaches you a lesson. This ending became the highlight.
It shows the rise from scratch, by relentless innovation & focus on a niche market & also details the downfall, how arrogance, unwillingness to adapt to market shifts internal conflicts, and failure. It's a lesson in what's needed for a great company.
It's a witty & engaging look at clash between engineering brilliance and business acumen, in a company's journey. It excels at characters, portraying eccentric personalities behind BlackBerry, and very well acted also.
