I love the songs lol

I thought I had seen this movie, but maybe I thought I was too “cool” when this came out my senior year of high school. Because trust me when I say I woulda remembered CMM with that skater haircut!!!

Watching this now, I expected to roll my eyes. But I loved it. The music was great. It was nice to see LiLo in her first prime (rooting for her comeback). And you know that Jamie Lee Curtis knocked this out of the park. I also loved Mark Harmon (even though I am so uncomfortable that I found him attractive and the unbelievable fact I am currently closer to his age in this movie than I am to CMM).

All in all, this was fun. Great soundtrack. Glad I took the time to give it a shot. I’ll try the original one now!

Here's a movie that reeks of early 2000's.

But that's not really a bad thing. The movie was, surprisingly, very funny and heartwarming at the same time. It didn't make me cry or anything like that, but it was certainly more emotionally sound than I thought it would be. And, as I said, it was really funny as well. Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis do great jobs respectively, and the grandpa actually was probably the funniest character in the whole movie. It's also riddled with cliches and the 2000's aesthetic makes it very dated in 2019, but dated in a good, charming way.

Overall an 8/10

Unlike with 'The Parent Trap' films, there is a fair gap in favour of the original for 'Freaky Friday'.

This 2003 remake is still very good, I definitely enjoyed it. It just feels a little hollow in some areas, at least until the sweet ending. Lindsay Lohan is great as the daughter, giving Jodie Foster a solid match. Jamie Lee Curtis gives a fairly strong performance, though Barbara Harris' portrayal of the mother is superior in my opinion.

There's fun to be had here for sure, it's just not on the same level as the excellent original for me.

A feel-good movie with nice comical scenes.

Fun film that still stands up. Both leads did a great job with it and that audition song slaps.

A cliched but surprisingly entertaining teenage comedy kept together by its two lead actresses.

The concept is far from new but the execution works quite well. The comedy isn't too childish for adult viewers and the film highlights the troubles of adult life and the challenges one faces during the teenage years believably.

The turning point is when they realise they need to work together to make everything normal again. They both learn about life from their experiences.

Main cast: 9

Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are surprisingly natural playing the opposites of each other. They play very well together and actually manage to convincingly capture each other's personalities.

Supporting cast: 10

The supporting cast does a great job supporting the main cast and is responsible for the best gags in the film.

Protagonist & antagonist: 8

Anna is your typical troubled teenager, who understands that being an adult and a mother isn't as easy as it might look. Her mother seems like the worst person in the world but has forgotten how the world works in the eyes of a teenager.

The directing and cinematography isn't anything new or extraordinary but keeps the film together.

A family comedy with early 2000s rock music is never wrong.

The lighthearted tone and physical comedy require a certain mindset to feel enjoyable.

The best gags are the physical ones and the many awkward moments.

The climax is strangely emotional and satisfying.

The fine performances and the comedy keeps this film flowing very well.

I came in expecting another tiresome comedy with terrible jokes and hammy acting. The film turns out to be pretty funny, even though the story is nothing new.

Unusually for this type of movie, this works as a good feelgood fi in times of despair or when you just need a laugh.

Classic Disney movie which is especially fun to watch now as an adult. Always loved Lindsay Lohan and this here is nostalgia overkill.

One of those mediocre teen movies that I've seen more than I liked because our tv networks refused to buy more movies.
