What a great mindless ride of insane action! I so enjoyed this movie!

Mario Kart but with criminals

The naming of the Death Race movie series is a bit odd. This one is the sequel to the Death Race 2 & 3. They should have gone with different names, without numbering those movies. This one should be the 3rd movie if you want to watch it in chronological order. So the chronological order goes like this:

Death Race 2
Death Race 3: Inferno
Death Race
Death Race 4: Beyond Anarchy

This is definitely a must watch! Unforgettable!

One of my favorite car movies. Period. Violent, gory, fast-paced, great characters. Everything I've ever seen with Joan Allen in it, she's great...but she is _par excellence_ in this film. She was cold as ice and you couldn't help but root for *something* to happen. The beginning of the story seems confusing at first but eventually it all pulls together and makes for a fun, violent, fast-paced movie that is fun almost right out of the gate. I could watch this one many times and not get bored with it.

Gratuitous and violent, _Death Race_ is an exciting and explosive action film from Paul W.S. Anderson. The story follows a wrongfully convicted man named Jensen Ames who’s recruited to participate in a penal gladiator completion known as Death Race, in which he can win his freedom. Starring Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson, Ian McShane, and Joan Allen, the casting is pretty solid. But this film is all about the car chases and explosions, and it delivers in spades. Anderson does an excellent job at creating intense and thrilling action sequences that engage the audience. As exploitation films go, _Death Race_ is incredibly riveting and adrenaline packed.

I didn't like the order of the movies. The 1st movie (2008) seems out of place. The next 4 movies are almost like a stand alone movie series slowly explaining the continuing storyline (almost like a prequel to the first which fits in there somewhere). However, the 5th movie was much better with excellant twists.

Nice Movie a must watch

I think I have watched this movie more than twenty times.. I'm a simple woman. I see Jason Statham, I watch it.

Cool concept: A cyberpunk race between convicts where you can kill your opponent in order to win. A classic if you like movies that are just cool action without any desire to be realistic.
