_Hart’s War_ is a brilliantly crafted World War II drama that’s powerful and thrilling. The film follows the story of a German stalag where the American POWs hold a court-martial after there’s a murder of a fellow soldier; however, during the course of events defense council Lt. Hart starts to suspect that there’s more going on than a simple trail and that there’s a greater game being played between the German commander and the American POW leader. The cast is led by Bruce Willis, Colin Ferrell, and Terrence Howard, who all give strong performances. Additionally, the directing is especially good; particularly in creating intense and suspenseful scenes that are enthralling. Also, composer Rachel Portman provides a moving and powerful score. Compelling and thought-provoking, _Hart’s War_ examines the character of men in the most trying of times.

>"You know sometimes I think your Lieutenant Scott might have been better off in Alabama. Lynchings are over in minutes. The kind of justice he's suffering here is far crueler."

This was way different than I thought it would be. I went in thinking it was just a typical war movie but then it becomes a prison camp courthouse drama. Bruce Willis is unlikable in this but I think that was the point of his character. I just want to give Terrence Howard's character a hug.

As far as WWII films go, this one showed a different side of the war from what we typically get. I found that to be a refreshing change & enjoyed the film.
