Most American won’t understand the references this movie contain. It feels way more directed towards the Israeli and Jewish crowd.

Definitely an underrated gem!

The critics are out in full force and tearing this movie a new one. I can understand some of the criticism, it's a brainless comedy chop full of cliché jokes, stereotypes, crude toilet humor, so it's to be expected that it's going to receive a lot of negativity. With that said, that's exactly why I loved this movie so much.

A fun, silly movie, but also quite funny, it is the pure surprise and ridiculousness of the many moments of the movie that makes it funny. You have to suspend your logic while watching this movie and for me personally that was easy to do, i quickly "got into" the movie, like i said, a fun, silly and quite funny movie. Edit: i also want to add, for all the flak sandler gets, i thought he was great in this movie.

This was a pretty entertaining movie for when it comes to the stupid comedy, or slap stick type comedy.

_"Whatever. Salami, bologna, apple sauce."_

I know what you're thinking. I liked this film more than _Hot Fuzz_, right? You probably weren't thinking that before, but you are now. And, well, not exactly. There's no doubt that I liked it more back in 2018, the first time I watched it. This film is an excellent example of something that's _much_ better the first time, and the subsequent viewings, nose-dive quite deep down.

In other words, _Hot Fuzz_ is the better film, to no one's surprise. But my outlook toward both films is closely tied, in that I liked both of them more the first time.

Anyway, comparing two completely different films asides, other than the common denominator of _Hot Fuzz_ being the previous film I've watched, this film was _something else_. Adam Sandler is _something else_. I mean, who else would do a role like this one? So outrageous and off the chain? There probably are people besides him, but there can't be many.

Unfortunately, Adam Sandler's ridiculous character/performance wasn't able to save the film. But that's based on a perspective of having already viewed it in the past; no novelty anymore. As I said, I liked it more the first time. So, I guess maybe the film didn't need to be saved. At the same time, the fact that it's such a long nose-dive down after the first viewing is very telling.

As far as the comedy is concerned, there were some funny moments. The running gags with the hummus and the Fizzy Bubblech were pretty good. Some of the over-the-top quirks of Zohan Dvir were good. The scene with the phone number, and the following conversation, was good, as was the foot-measuring scene. But overall, it was more miss than hit.

My biggest complaint would probably be the lack of action. This film was more of a comedy-action than an action-comedy. And even then, the comedy started being peeled off to try and do things seriously, which was weird and didn't land whatsoever. The beginning of the film was on the right track. Had it remained on that track or in a similar vein, its entirety would've been more enjoyable.

But, all that said, the soundtrack was pretty decent. Most of the songs were a bop. They heightened the experience, although not to the point where the film was "saved."

All-in-all, this film has no rewatchability. I appreciate that I liked it more in 2018, but opinions change. It's more of a "bad film" than a "good film," for sure. I won't call it either. I'd say it's enjoyable enough if it's your first time watching it. Don't expect it to remain anything close to that with future viewings.

Other thoughts:

- Adam Sandler's accent sounded like a mixture of Zlatan Ibrahimović and Peter Stormare. But sometimes, it was neither. Those times, it was merely Adam Sandler with a different accent.

- After Nasi came back to the cab with Salim (after saying: "The goat fetched soup? This is unbelievable.") Daoud Heidami's laugh at the end seemed genuine.

- At the end of the film, Dave Matthews sounded like Jason Sudeikis in that SNL skit with Jamie Foxx, _Maine Justice_.

A typical Adam Sandler comedy, though this one is form a bit too much cheap slapstick comedy. For fans.
