Some people hat this movie. But you should always consider that it is form Paul Verhoven, the man who gave us Total Recall, Basic Instinct, Robocop and Starship Troopers. All movies that are brilliant but you mostly see the brilliance only when you look twice, behind the facade of the apparent story. If anything, enjoy the beautiful girls in this movie, but in times of Ebstein, Weinstein and Co, the second layer of the movie is more real than ever. If you do not like to see beautiful, half naked women, avoid this movie. If you want to enjoy the movie and think about the reality behind the glamour, watch it and enjoy.

Conclusions...
Paul Verhoeven is a genius and a bit of a pervert (we all knew that anyway), Elizabeth Berkley can't act if her life depended on it, Gina Gershon and Kyle MacLachlan had most likely no idea what they said yes to, and... There's no reason NOT to watch this in 4K.

Elizabeth Berkley can be rather 'intense' in her performance but the reputation of Showgirls as a bad movie is rather undeserved. It's overlong for sure & does throw in extra side plots & revenge is tied up swiftly in comparison to the story setup.

The younger me just wanted to see some breasts. The old me watched for the craft. I have a better understanding of it. The breast overshadowed the lifestyle because there’s the love of playing and getting played. This movie is a good representation of hunger and starvation. I started thinking about Epstein—not focusing on the tragedy—how the game was being played because men and women both were trying to be the man. People don’t acknowledge that. It reminds me of a line in a song, that says women don’t like a broke man. The man in the movie said he’s a pimp, and that was what women were chasing after. A great reminder that art imitates life.

Saw it sometime when I was a kid. Then it was good, and very nervous that my parents would find out that I was watching it .. remember nothing more than I saw the movie, haha :)

This is one sucky Verhoeven and a sucky dance movie and even a sucky titty flick. Story is predictable and uninspiring despite weird execution at every turn, acting is terrible, music is worse and damn the sexy dances look like a workout routine. Did the lead blackmail Verhoeven into making this? It's like a vanity flick where she is an amazing natural and everyone else tell how great she looks at every single opportunity while she keeps doing the most wooden acting in full makeup and then some. Even trying to watch it as a satire it fails because it is much too close to the genre movies it is supposed to be exaggerating. Personally, I just think it's a weird failure from any aspect I try to find qualities. Most disappointingly, despite the spectacular weirdness and all the titties, it is tedious and boring.
