On the rugged isle of Berk, where Vikings and dragons have been bitter enemies for generations, Hiccup stands apart, defying centuries of tradition when he befriends Toothless, a feared Night Fury dragon. Their unlikely bond reveals the true nature of dragons, challenging the very foundations of Viking society.
I'm genuinely surprised and so so happy with this movie. the casting is great, the chemistry is so cute. astrid is such an icon, and hiccup and his dad's relationship is everything. there's heart and soul in this movie. and oh! there's also dragons!

Never watched the animated movie before so I basically entered with no context ( well of course I knew a couple of things already given the popularity of the franchise but I really didn't know anything spoiler worthy)
And let me tell you how mesmerized I felt while watching the movie the amazing music the awesome visual effects the beautiful story
This movie is incredible and if you are not a fan of the franchise give this movie an opportunity I for sure will go to watch the animated movies right now

Absolutely fantastic, and definitely worth a watch. Story has very few changes from the animated version, and looks great. It’s not entirely as smooth as the animated, but the casting, set, and graphics are fantastic - particularly when in relation to the queen. Haven’t seen many other films that do such an amazing job making something feel so colossal; absolutely breathtaking!

The only animated to live action I have seen being done perfectly.
I walked into this with a kid (assuming it’s a new movie). I have seen the animated probably 4-5 times. When I realised this is a live action with the same story, I was disappointed. The movie though wasn’t disappointing. Every scene was well done and I didn’t feel bored. I might have enjoyed this more than the original. My kid loved this and so did it.
Disney should take a note. This is how you do live actions..

The live-action How to Train Your Dragon dazzles with soaring dragons and stunning visuals, even if some of the original charm gets lost in the realism.
The CGI work on Toothless is especially impressive, capturing both his majesty and emotional nuance. Sweeping landscapes and a haunting score add cinematic weight, and the core bond between Hiccup and Toothless remains heartfelt.
It’s a respectful retelling that soars in moments, but doesn’t always glide as effortlessly as the animated classic.

Considering how to train your dragon ain’t even that old and the trilogy is fantastic on its own one of my favourites ,so this didn’t need to be made but if I’m being honest this is without a doubt the best live action I’ve ever seen.
It feels like the animation story wise and mostly the same vibe not ashamed to say I got chills watching it with how well they followed the story literally like carbon a copy not many changes at all this is how you make a freaking live action “cough Disney”
Like LILO & Stitch would have been perfect if it did what this film did which was stick to what works already otherwise don’t make it.
Wow can’t believe Mason Thames “Hiccup” is only 17 he’s got a bright career ahead of him very impressed with him as hiccup his acting was so good looks very similar to character so fantastic casting choice will be looking forward to what he does next and of course this going to be a trilogy so can’t wait to see him in role again.
I’ll admit changing astrids look did annoy me at first and I was worried they was going to be like Disney and change so much about the characters but they didn’t she looks different but I have to say she was great she was one of the best parts of the film and also had good chemistry with Mason.
Glad Gerald Butler continued his role as Stoick the Vast he’s just as good here as he’s in the animation great chemistry and emotional moments with hiccup, found it funny Nick frost was gobber always liked his character he suits it well because he’s got similar silly humour.
Astrids friends have always been annoying but in a funny way that that’s what they was here loved that Julian Dennison was in this from Deadpool he was great as fishlegs, hope tuffnut is even more mad in the second as he’s easily one of the highlights of the second film.
I’ll leave the best character for last which is the incredibly adorable Toothless they did a great job with the CGI on him looked really impressive he’s so cute his behaviour with hiccup was amazing to watch just like the originals couldn’t ask for anything more and no complaints whatsoever.
For once I’m actually finishing a review of a live action with basically no negatives which is surprising finally I’m so happy they didn’t butcher another classic film just hope the other two can live up to this standard if they do it will be a brilliant trilogy easily a 9/10.

How to Train Your Dragon is my second-favorite franchise of all time. I adore Hiccup, Toothless, and all the characters in this series. When I heard they were making a live-action adaptation, I was terrified they’d mess it up. While I would’ve loved for the characters to perfectly resemble their book and animated counterparts, we don’t always get everything we want. (For example, think of Annabeth from Percy Jackson—her on-screen portrayals never fully matched the book’s description.) That said, Nico Parker did a great job as Astrid, though I wish they’d made her more badass. In the original books and animated films, Astrid is portrayed as fiercely independent and capable, someone who can handle herself without relying on anyone else. In the live-action version, there were a couple of times where she seemed more like a side character at times. On the other hand, Mason Thames was perfectly cast as Hiccup! He captures book Hiccup’s essence so well, and the styling and costumes were spot-on.
