Some of the acting, and writing is a bit strange and exaggerated and the ending seems a bit rushed I’ll agree, but It’s like the people reviewing this movie watched this and don’t like horror movies or monsters in the first place. The idea was cool and they did a great job at presenting the monster whenever it was on screen. They hit you with one jumpscare and the rest is a slow burn and a lot of it centers around the characters. It’s not an action horror movie or filled with jumpscares, but it does a great job and reminded me a bit of Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson films which I also enjoyed.

For a movie about a mimic creature, it sure mimics the 558337 "slowburn look at grief" movies before it. That being said, ***Daddy's Head*** is a good version and I was captivated for the entire runtime. This made me think of *Goodnight Mommy* at first (but with a daddy twist) and then *The Babadook*. It's more of a creature feature though so I appreciated the change and the creature design was creepy as hell. The first time it moved under the table and started running like *The Flash* I laughed so hard but everything else after was quite creepy. There's some cheap jumpscares in here but also some solid scary dark scenes that sent chills up my spine.

The structure in the woods is a work of art, I wanna know who came up with that and how I can get it in my backyard please. The performances are really good and that includes the kid, very believable. Nothing great but it did the job emotionally and I was rooting for the characters to get better. Nice camerawork and perfect setting for both the rich house and the beautiful forest. The "action" scene in the third act in the kid's room was so wild and nice camerawork I felt just as dizzy as the character. Could have done without the exposition dump in the last few minutes but whatever, everything is resolved at least.

It was an ok movie. They spent so much time on Laura being an alcoholic and the kid hating her instead of the actual monster.

Daddy's head must go craaaaazy for her to go so insane without it.

I can see many people are already making the link between this movie and The Babadook and I definitely see it too. Similarities aside, this is a solid elevated horror about the processing of grief and guilt with a terrifying creature design and some plodding script work. It's by no means new or original, but it's a solidly constructed modern horror with a few effective scares and an uncharacteristically good ending. Will be sure to check the shadowy corners of my house tonight, just in case.

This horror movie/meditation on grief had potential but it lacks scares or a decent message.

It is watchable, but the characters are very dull, extremely boring. The subject is good, but it could be handled a little better. It is a thriller and mystery-heavy production. The acting is okay, the script is very slow. In short, I didn't like it. It's a below-average production. Still, good luck with your efforts.
