This was genuinely one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen. The deaths are all soooo over the top and the dialogue is super clever. The sequence with the real estate agent had me howling. "So no business card then." I thought I would enjoy this movie coming in but it completely blew my expectations out of the water.. no pun intended.

Hilariously funny. Well, myself and my friends thought it was and laughed all the way through. Perhaps worryingly, about half the audience seemed to be taking it seriously.

The whole time I had a feeling i'm watching a less serious version of Final Destination. Some moment felt like straight out of that series. Overall, it was a fun time, and if you do not expect some serious horror movie, you will enjoy it. [spoiler] The only thing I found strange were the years. Base on what they show it should be 1999 and 2024, but the first one felt more like 80s, and the second maybe early 2000s. Was it not for that one smartphone, it would perfectly fit there. Find this movie tough to review it’s quite weird but you can’t take too seriously which I think it was going for that type of vibe it’s a demon monkey lol so I get why this was abit wacky and way over the top ,but did love that about it was quite funny too even though I did find it predictable in parts ,don’t think it matters with this type of film just a fun dark horror comedy.

Do think Theo James done a great job this film definitely the standout performance in it.

The kills were so fun to watch even some were so ridiculous, didn’t get the man on the horse part at the end.

Still would recommend watching this has its really a fun watch.

The Monkey is one of the best
horror-conmedies (and Stephen King
adaptations) in recent memory, exploding off
the screen with both gory kills and big
laughs.

I've been following the promotion for The Monkey so I knew what to expect going in, however, I did NOT expect it to be so sad. I love how it makes you laugh as it pulls on your heart strings. Well worth a watch! The first Osgood Perkins' movie I actually enjoy.

Osgood Perkins has been steadily carving out his own unsettling corner of the horror genre, and The Monkey might just be his most crowd-pleasing effort yet. Based on Stephen King’s short story, this film takes the basic setup—an evil cymbal-clapping toy monkey causing gruesome deaths—and turns it into a gloriously twisted series of set pieces that feel like Final Destination by way of Perkins’ own bleak, offbeat sense of humour.

The story follows two estranged brothers who come into possession of their childhood toy, only to realise that wherever the monkey goes, carnage follows. But this isn’t your standard supernatural slasher; Perkins injects an eerie sense of inevitability into the deaths, crafting them with a mix of dread, splatter, and dark comedy. Each kill is less about horror and more about gory, creatively executed mayhem—sometimes shocking, sometimes absurdly funny, but always memorable. The monkey itself is a wonderfully creepy presence, an inanimate menace with a design that could easily become a new horror icon.

The film does lose some of its drive towards the final act, where the pacing slows, and the tension starts to wane. It never completely unravels, but after such a strong run of inventive death scenes, the climax doesn’t quite land with the same impact. Still, the journey is so fun, so grotesquely entertaining, that it’s easy to forgive. And honestly, I’d love to see a sequel—there’s so much more potential in the monkey’s macabre little game.

If you like the intricate, domino-effect deaths of Final Destination but wish they had a bit more weirdness and pitch-black humour, The Monkey is absolutely worth your time. Perkins continues to prove he’s one of horror’s most unique voices, and with this, he’s delivered a wickedly fun nightmare that lingers long after the final cymbal crash.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. One can’t take it too seriously but just needs to enjoy the ride. Multiple times I laughed out loud.
