Very creative! Beautifully shot. Well scripted. Well acted. Sets were simply wonderful. Epitome of flipping the script on several genres. Wasn't perfect but it was VERY strong in many areas!. Love these sorts of hidden gems that blend the genres. Sci-Fi, Horror, etc. It isn't what you think it is. Go in as blind as you can. I think you'll love it!

A summer camp based horror/thriller with a Sci-Fi premise? Got sold for the difference. Just for the plot twist, this is a recommended show. Enjoyed it and cant wait for a sequel.

It starts with a Friday the 13th vibe, but it soon becomes weird and starts not making all too much sense.
In the second part, they try to explain the weirdness. Unfortunately what is meant to be the big reveal that ties it all together does itself also not make much sense.
They tried but it just doesn’t really work. For hardcore fans of the genre only.

It ends by starting a more interesting horror movie.

Sets up for a good flick and then falls pretty short imo, the reveal fell pretty flat for me. Vibes of a goosebumps/teenager kind of scary movie.

Marshmallow pulls you into a classic summer camp setup: eerie woods, oddball counsellors, a kid hiding grief behind a quiet stare. It layers on the weird slowly. There’s a hazmat-suited figure, strange dreams, and a synth score humming underneath. It feels like it’s building to something big.

And then it just stops.

The young cast are solid, especially Kue Lawrence as Morgan, and the mood is nailed. It teases mystery, hints at sci-fi, and explores grief, memory, and being ignored. You’re in it. But when the reveal lands — the one it’s clearly been keeping up its sleeve — it feels like we’ve finally hit the good bit. Then the credits roll.

That’s the real letdown. The twist is smart, but it should have been the film, not just the ending. There was a brilliant movie hiding here. They just cut to black before letting it breathe.
