Just like I remember it, Walking Tall is a pretty straight forward action movie. A “strong” protagonist, comedic sidekick, hot chicks, and a whole lot of mayhem. Not exactly high art, but it follows the formula well enough to be quite entertaining. I like it!!!

Light, weightless, fun action. The Rock is great in the role, and the story is good. It's not as compelling or fleshed out as the originals or the true story. But it's a fun enough action movie to forgive all that and have a good time with the retribution.

Walking Tall (2004)
There are other movies with the same name from different years, but I watched the 2004 version based on a true story. I watched it for the character Chris Vaughn. I love movies from those years—especially revenge-themed ones. Based on Buford Pusser.

A man returns to his hometown and finds everything has changed. But his motive isn’t personal revenge; it’s about standing up against drugs which was being sold to kids and corruption. Then a big fight begins, but nobody stands by his side when things get serious. While they shoot each other for hours.

One thing that didn’t make sense to me: why didn’t the sheriff ask for help from the feds or elsewhere when the violence escalated? It makes the sheriff look kind of foolish. Maybe the true story is better told elsewhere.

I’d give it a 7/10.

Probably one of The Rock's most realistic action film.

>"I don't know if you noticed, but this ain't exactly home anymore."

I wish The Rock would make movies like this again. He is still overpowered and kicks ass but it is in a more grounded way and doesn't feel like a movie made just for the numbers.

"Walking Tall" tells the story of a man who returns to his small hometown after serving in the army and decides to clean up the town from crime and widespread corruption. The film is packed with action scenes and chases, featuring a straightforward revenge story.
Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) delivers a strong and determined performance, but the plot lacks complexity or major twists. The movie focuses more on fast-paced action than on detailed storytelling.
The direction is good, and the intense scenes are thrilling, but the film doesn’t carry deep messages or a complicated plot.
My rating: 6/10
A simple and entertaining action film for fans of fast-paced, traditional stories, though it doesn’t leave a lasting impact.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson plays a U.S. Soldier that gets pushed a bit too far by some dirtbags and things start to get shot, get blown up and smacked with 4X4 posts. Luckily, "The Rock" is there to flex his personality and make a bad movie a little less bad.

The movie's primary offense? Changing the main character's name from Buford Pusser to Chris Vaughn.
