"Nowhere" (2023), directed by Albert Pintó, is a gripping survival drama that takes place in the middle of the ocean. The film centers around Mia, played by Anna Castillo, who delivers a compelling performance. Pregnant and alone, Mia finds herself trapped in a shipping container, drifting at sea after fleeing a devastated totalitarian country.

The film's minimalistic setting is used effectively to create a sense of unease. Despite the confined space of a cargo ship, the film manages to remain engaging at every turn. The narrative is driven by Castillo's performance and the premise of survival against all odds.

The film does have its shortcomings. It takes a bit too long to find itself and struggles with tone. There are some disappointing choices in the film's directing, and the realism of the container's internal space could have been better conveyed.

However, Castillo's performance makes these issues easy to overlook. Her portrayal of a woman fighting not just for her own survival, but also for her newborn baby's, adds an emotional depth to the story.

In conclusion, "Nowhere" is a powerful Spanish thriller that effectively uses its claustrophobic setting and strong lead performance to deliver an engaging survival drama. Despite its flaws, it's definitely worth watching.

I really liked this a lot. What a surprise, started watching thinking this would be another dumb survival movie and then my eyes were glued to the screen.

It's like "Cast Away", only without the island, but in fact it's a story about thousands of emigrants who sacrificed their own lives in search of a better life.

Not my typical movie, I tend to avoid them but after seeing a few friends rave about this movie on social media, I decided to give it a try. I thought it wasn’t too bad. A couple scenes I couldn’t watch but overall entertaining. Excellent acting by Mia 🙌

Very good drama, it explores the loneliness of a mother and her struggle to survive.

The film takes place in a dystopian context marked by totalitarianism and oppression, resulting in a massive flight of people. However, most of the narrative takes place within a single environment: a container. This minimalist and intimate approach creates a claustrophobic atmosphere, where the need to adapt and survive generates constant tension, as well as many impactful moments that are even desperate.

"Nowhere" (2023) is a Spanish-language survival thriller that follows Mia, a pregnant woman who escapes a war-torn country by hiding in a maritime container aboard a cargo ship. After a violent storm, Mia gives birth to her child while lost at sea, where she must fight to survive. The film is anchored by a committed performance from Anna Castillo, who plays Mia. It's tense and claustrophobic atmosphere makes you anxious and on edge.

The survival drama genre is extremely repetitive when it's about the storyline, but the motivation to create such stories with a fresh environment that's challenging is a commendable work by the makers. Overall, "Nowhere" is a gripping and intense survival story that explores themes of motherhood, guilt, and grief.
