don't miss it!!
Such a heart warming movie!
So lovely and delightful. The characters, the accent, the retro feel, the setting, everything is just perfect.
If you want a pick-me-up movie then your search ends here. No unnecessary drama, no unnecessary dialogues. Just pure beauty!
A film made by a woman telling the story of million women who dares to dream. A film that can be totally avoided if some ridiculous transitions didn't exist. Just because of those traditions, someone got their chance to make a life out of it and some understood the essence of humanity from humans only.
A film which made me cry like this is the world i want to live in. This is the world that's worth living in and worth fighting for. What a vision, Kiran Rao. Everything about this film is so simple yet so powerful.
Ravi Kishan and that grandma carried the film single handedly. The lessons Phool got from the granny and the experience of true humanity and the journey from being a corrupt police officer to a lifesaver for someone's education. This is the dynamics which doesn't require 100 cr CGI or any ornamental effort. Just pure writing and innocence. All the actors nailed their roles and the music played a big part to create that magic. Although o sajni re got ruined due to reel culture but the song hits different if you are watching the film.
For me, the film is all about humanity and chasing dreams. End of the day, we as Humans are too innocent for the complexity of this universe. Let's name everything as Destiny and take that train to count all the stations to reach where we belong. Home.
This is a brilliant movie that will touch anyone who will watch this master piece. Plot 9/10, Acting 10/10, Cast 10/10, Pacing 9/10, BGM 10/10. Good stuff.
Brilliantly crafted story of love, family and woman rights. Kiran Rao had mesmerized me criticising such social facades of gender discrimination with such scenarios of life and comedy. It never bored me for its casting, soundtrack and the humour infused innocently in it. A great binge worthy family film..
The film has several issues. It shows Phool, a child bride married to an adult, but doesn't address child marriage. Despite realizing her limited perspective, she doesn’t pursue education and ends up in the same situation she feared. The arranged marriage is depicted as a love story with forced romance, as Phool suddenly falls for Deepak despite her initial fear. The movie also stereotypes Dalit men as violent drunkards and uses a controversial dialogue to justify their behavior. Jaya, knowing she’s leaving with Deepak, shows no concern for Phool's safety and only thinks of her after Deepak's suffering. The corrupt and misogynistic cop, who was initially uninterested in finding Phool, suddenly becomes helpful and assists Jaya, which is an inconsistent character arc.
The film tries to address women's issues in rural India but fails in its execution. It misses being a true satire by perpetuating harmful stereotypes and glossing over important social issues like child marriage. The portrayal of marginalized women lacks depth, focusing more on forced narratives than on genuine stories of resilience and empowerment. Instead of challenging societal norms, the film ends up reinforcing harmful tropes, missing the chance to make a meaningful statement.
very nice movie, that girl who played pool is so pepi, very nice
It is obviously a good movie. But that doesn't mean it matches the hype I've seen among people. Maybe it's because they're not used to watch story based movies. They've been watching 'one man army' type masala movies with full of logic-less actions, where stories are nowhere to be found.
There is some in your face social commentary in the film. About girl education, about ghunghat and nakab etc. Apart from that, the movie is largely entertaining. I am not saying that the social commentary should be avoided, but it should be more subtle or more organic part of the story.
Don't apologize for having a dream
