I loved this documentary which was a fitting homage to one of the greatest running backs in league history. I had no idea Barry Sanders' dad was such a huge influence in his life and his portions were the best

The retirement angle was overplayed in my opinion probably for marketing purposes. There are no groundbreaking reveals about the reason behind Sanders' retirement. It was pretty much what everyone guessed but hearing that from the man himself would give fans some closure.

This didn’t reveal anything insightful that wasn’t already well known, but I can (and have) watch Barry Sanders highlights all day. Jeff Daniels serving as a poetic thesaurus for the word despair to contextualize Lions fandom and some incredible footage including a top down view of Barry breaking tackles in the 91 NFC Championship and reflections of the defense he was dissecting in his face visor make this necessary viewing for football fans.

As an unbias Australian that doesn't follow NFL (i prefer NBA), i enjoyed watching highlights of Barry spin around defenders, but the reasoning behind his retirement was about as mundane and simple as it gets. The trailer made out like there'd be some sort of compelling story behind it. Nope. I feel like they tried to squeeze juice from a rock on this story. Nothing to see here imo.

Regardless, it was kinda cool to learn about a superstar that was humble as hell and had zero desire for the spotlight. That's pretty rare in America i'd imagine. But i could've watched a 10min youtube video about that.
If i could turn back time i probably would've spent that time watching something else instead.

I think this doco is probably only very interesting for NFL fans or Barry Sanders fans.

It's not bad, there's just much more compelling documentaries out there imo
