Understated, well-filmed, well-written, and excellently edited. The pacing is perfect and doesn't drag at any point. Christian Cervone is perfect in the central role, with no trace of self-indulgent child actor. His character has a nice arc of maturation. Due to the episodic nature of his mother's appearances, her character arc is
much more of a whiplash, but Rossi portrays well a cold villain when AmerĂgo returns from the north against her hopes.
Absolute fantastic movie, a lot of feelings, very natural, nothing over dramatic.
