This is a great movie. I found it thanks to the episode in South Park, S12E03 Major Boobage. In retrospect South Park doesn't do this movie justice, the real movie is much better.

The movie contains of 8 short stories that all revolve around a green glowing living ball that according to itself is the embodiment of all evil. Some of the stories are pretty good. They all contain a lot of graphic violence and nudity.

This month is it exactly 30 years ago that it first came out. Considering that i think the graphics are very good. But the best feature of this movie is the soundtrack. This movie was in part made by fans of that genre of music and they seem to know their music. I especially liked the music in the B-17 story.

With all the animation movies lately that try to reach the largest public as possible to maximize profits by making it accessible to everyone its nice to see a movie that goes in another direction and does something different. Even if they did it 30 years ago.

Fun times with this horror/sci-fi/dark fantasy anthology of short stories linked by an evil glowing green orb. May not be the best animated feature but it's definitely memorable. I really like the animation style and it's quite funny how it's R-rated but feels very juvenile. Some segments are better than the others as expected. Although a bit problematic in it's depiction of women, the stories told are so unique and each section is well-animated and extremely creative. The sheer audacity and absurdity of it all is a lot of fun to see. The soundtrack deserves a lot of credit as well.

The most teenage nerd movie I've ever seen.

If Heavy Metal is anything... It's unique, interesting, and certainly different from every other animated film out there... It's also holey lacking in any kind of substance beyond substance abuse. This film is also style, all the time; it's dripping with the stuff. Unfortunately the stories of the individual short suffer for this with being very barebones and basic. You can find this pretty easily so give it a watch if you want but honestly, I wouldn't seek it out unless it really interests you.

Boosted up a notch bc of all the great butts and titties, but overall the movie had slow points and fast points. Old adult animation is strange but enjoyable.

"Heavy Metal" is pretty entertaining. It's strange because it seems slapped together, but has enough inspired moments and funny John Candy voice work to make it something I keep re-watching.

Everything in "Heavy Metal" is animated and some of it is pretty crude. There are many genres it trips over, Horror, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, but this anthologies' greatest claim to fame is probably that four of the stories have full-frontal female nudity mixed in. I have no doubt that this explains its movie cult status.

There's some good and also not so great Rock music throughout the movie, and I wouldn't classify any of it as being HEAVY or METAL. The only story I like a lot was about a bomber pilot who crashes in the jungle. The story about taxi driver Harry Canyon is decent, also.

The first time I saw this was when I was about 14. And I liked it very much. It was gory and had lots of naked women with large breasts. I didn't understand much of it but it was cool.
Now the gory part and breasts are having no impact and I see that there is not much of a story. The soundtrack is still great and I really enjoy the very much basic animation compared to the over animated stuff that comes out of computers today.

Impressive graphics considering the age - but I have no idea what this really is. Even weirder considering the voices and the music in the movie.

I'm guessing it is one of those things that will appeal to some as a cult movie, but probably not most. So I'm not going to recommend or not. All I will say is that if you enjoy (or not) the first 10 minutes, it's all like that. But even if you don't enjoy it, the closing credits are done to the sound of Devo which is always great.
