I get the hate and agree that this movie left quite a bit to be desired. There was so much territory unexplored and basically Alice in Wonderland (and fragments of Through the Looking Glass) became another vehicle to sell "Johnny Depp and Tim Burton do something together".

However, for those suffering from massive disorders of psychotic thought, Johnny Depp's performance is eerily spot on, and I was nearly moved to tears (and rated ten exactly for) at the line "It's awfully crowded in here".

See it if you love Tim Burton or Johnny Depp or wonder what Disney's canon post-animation for Wonderland is outside of Kingdom Hearts. Don't see it if you want to see Carroll shown any real honor on the silver screen.

A very unique re-telling of the classic Alice in Wonderland tale. I find this movie is a lot easier to enjoy if you pretend its not really related to Alice at all. As a stand alone movie it is very unique. It is funny, emotional and well written. Also the presence of Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway is always a good thing!

I love the Alice of this story...the quintessential strong woman. And, I loved seeing this again. After seeing, "Alice Through the Looking Glass," it's so fun seeing how it dovetails with that later film!

This is not the little girl, Alice...this is her re-visiting those friends she made as a little girl. She does not remember that time.

I actually really enjoy this,
It's modern and cool but still holds true to the classic formula,
but mixes things up to make it fresh and interesting.
Great performances and
This version of
Alice is very likable and actually rather awesome.
I was chuckling all the way through, it's just a good time and a fun movie.

And what I love the most
Is it's not woke Bull-crap.

In the wave of revisiting classics with live action versions, Alice in Wonderland reappears from the perspective of Tim Burton. Johnny Depp (who made a great Mad Hatter), Helena Bonham Carter and the curious geometric shapes always present in the director's works could not be missing, even the vibrant and crazy colors of Alice's universe were darkened to give Tim's characteristic dark tone. Now we see an older Alice, but still confused about herself, who returns to Wonderland to save everyone from the evil Red Queen while discovering who she is and what she wants.

With a large cast, the film manages to entertain and amuse while making us reflect, but it weighs a little on the political theme, much more present than in its inspiring work. Released at the height of 3D movies, it is a very visual and challenging movie, great for 3D but with cgi exaggeration, which makes it slightly uncomfortable for those who are not watching with this feature.

I saw this in the theatre in 2010 and liked it just fine. Now after watching it again ten years later I haven't changed my opinion. Nice film with brilliant actors and just overall an enjoyable experience. My favorite part will always the Cheshire Cat.

The concept here was probably written as, this movie is to the original Alice in Wonderland, what Hook (1991) is to Peter Pan.

It works to the most part.

This re-imagining of _Alice in Wonderland_ by director Tim Burton delivers a unique and imaginative vision. In this pseudo-sequel to Lewis Carroll’s tale, Alice is drawn back to Wonderland to slay the Jabberwocky and free the kingdom from the Red Queen’s rule. The cast is quite good, and includes Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, and Alan Rickman. Depp gives an especially creative and inspired performance as the Mad Hatter, and Wasikowska is captivating as Alice. Additionally, Danny Elfman provides a solid score that enhances Burton’s dark, gothic visual style. But while the Wonderland adventure is exciting and full of thrills, it’s bookended by a rather pathetic story about Alice’s social eccentricities. Yet while it has a few problems, overall _Alice in Wonderland_ is a fun and inventive fantasy adventure that puts a new twist on a familiar tale.
