It would seem that everyone reviewing this movie is expecting some sort of Disney budget masterpiece of cinema, when just like Winnie the Pooh: Blood & Honey it was never marketed as anything other than a z-budget, quick to market, exploitation piece.
Set your expectations accordingly, it's not great, it is not meant to be !
At about the 15 minute mark I found myself getting distracted by other things away from watching this because it was kinda dull, but then about halfway through I found myself caught up in everthing going on and was then fully invested in watching till the end.
The 2 cops were the worst part of the film for me but I guess they had to be there for cheap exposition.
Just like WtP, I expect there will be a sequel and I look forward to it because this movie wasn't altogether terrible and if those comparisons remain then the next Mousetrap should be far better than the WtP sequel.
I would have given it a better rating but it just stopped and didn’t make sense as to why the exposition characters were there.
The opening was worth a read and the dumb jokes were ok.
It is a cheap movie but I’ve seen cheaper ones with more entertainment value because they finish the story.
This movie was worse than I expected. Rated as high as I did because the opening credits made me laugh.
The Mouse Trap (2024) - ❤x4
The text crawl at the beginning of the movie was the best part. Horrible script and acting. Definitely a skip. But worst of all - it has no real ending.
How I rate:
1-3 ❤ = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6 ❤ = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8 ❤ = I expect you will like this too
9-10 ❤ = movies and TV shows I really love!
>*–"Haven't you seen any horror film ever?"
–"No, Marcus. I have a sex life!"*
So, we all get payed in overtime double for watching this, right? Apart from the mask this movie has absolutely nothing to do with Mickey Mouse, there's nothing here for fans of the original IP. There's an off-putting unoriginal sci-fi twist that takes it even further away from the IP as well, should be called *The X-Mouse Trap* at this point. The killer looks like an absolute loser, what's up with the hockey shirt and the cargo pants?
It's self-aware and laughs at itself at least, I did laugh four times at the one-liners but everything else was flat. I like the arcade setting. The Wednesday Addams look alike and the phone addict coworker were the best of the worst characters.
Not nearly enough fun though, most of this movie is just silly boring cliché teenage love circles and drama (which it does self-awarely critique at one point but it doesn't justify serving it to us in the first place). The first hour is PG-13 with no kills shown on-screen but then suddenly they're shown in the last 30 minutes. They're all lame except for the last one which took me by surprise, but again, nothing Mickey Mouse related. Such a shame.
Are we truly going to call it a "Movie"?👎
It’s the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, come inside, it’s not fun inside….to say this movie sucked is an understatement…
I hope the creator meant it as a joke?!? Or as a parody of this horror genre…. And I thought I'd seen a lot of bad horror movies! Everything was probably wrong there.
I mean is it entertaining? No. Is it beautifully produced? No. All this movie will do for you is give you a desire to go to Disney world and see the real Mickey.
I mean, not great, but funny as hell. But I'm certainly laughing at it rather than with. It's generic, Mickey is not great and the deaths are mostly off screen. Not sure what the idea of the film is, but a quick cash cow is how it's turned out.
