The core story is teenagers' dream to save the world. The camera language is splendid.
An interesting concept, with a pretty disappointing story.
First what's the point of the other planet ? To avoid chinese censorship and that's it ?
Now they get an interesting power, but what for ? First half is about them fighting over a girl (that we don't even see afterwards I think). By the time it got a bit more engaging I had already lost interest.
The comedy parts are often pretty stupid, even if it can work sometimes (like the destroying bicycles part). The action parts, well, fights mostly, are ok but the superimposed comics-like effects suck. They are ugly and intruding on the action. It's something that has already been done a lot, and I didn't think it was possible to fail this, and yet... I don't think there's been a single moment where I thought these were an improvement and not an annoyance.
The characters are a bit bland and their interactions weird.
The pacing is horrible. Boring parts, chaotic changes of focus, not much consistency. The last part, which is supposed to be the climax I assume was so weirdly brought up that it failed to raised an already too low interest in what's happening.
Still, the base concept is really good and it gives some good sequences (like the 20 experiment subjects becoming comatose in the past). Interestingly, they can't change destiny from the past to the future, but the future can act on the past.
Somewhat interesting idea, with some creative shots but way too long and not my kind of humour at all.
