Highest 2 Lowest

This was a true Spike Lee Joint film! I loved it and there are always messages within his films as well as paying homage to his ROOTS! :muscle_tone4::fist_tone4::tone4:

AMC Hanes 12 here in Winston-Salem, N.C. didn't have "Highest 2 Lowest" and I was very disappointed in this!! I really don't want to speculate on what their reasoning was, but I hope it wasn't what I suspected? But, I did get a chance to view the 5th joint venture between Denzel and Spike. As a Black man... it was a fresh point of view and refreshing to witness a movie not written from a White person's point of view! Where Blacks are made to look unintelligent, or behave like a White person's perspective of how a Black person is supposed to act. First to die in their version of their movies or die protecting their White counterparts.

This movie to me is the second best movie of their year... just behind Sinners. Of course the Academy Awards will go by Box Office sells, but if some theaters are reluctant to carry certain movie for whatever reasons... it could have an impact on sells. Of course if it's viewed through eyes of the world... the dynamics could change.

"Can you handle everything that there is in between?"

Dialogue that sounds like it's written by the whaddaya call it—the AI, and the IA, and the A-E-I-O-U. (Except for the climax, which is elite.)

Almost falls apart for me when people are talking, but so much of the rest is so damn good.

I fucking love Denzel Washington. The man always looks like he's getting away with something.

Why was like 10% of this randomly shot on film?

This is good. It's an old-school film. I wish I'd seen it in a theater. I've never seen the Kurasawa film, so I have nothing to compare it to, but on its own, it's good. 2hrs is too long for a movie, but the self-indulgence is almost forgivable here. It's a good movie.

I really liked the movie, Denzel Washington is a very good actor... but he's not here to run and fight anymore lol 😅😅😅

I enjoyed this very much. Denzel always delivers and I liked the musical talent in this movie.

Decent, but could have been so much better.

And for reals, they should've cut about 30-40 minutes off, a lot of unecessarily stretched out scenes ...
