Natacha (Almost) Air Hostess

France, 1963. Since she was a child, Natacha has dreamed of freedom and adventure. Her dream has a name: air hostess. She admires the women who fly the world, with no ties, no husbands, and no cooking to do. Despite all her efforts Natacha does not match the walking fantasy that an air hostess is supposed to embody at the time. She's too... or not enough... whatever it is, she hasn't got it!
Like an emergency parachute: just because it works and avoids a potential disaster doesn't make it a good trip.
Camille Lou's energy carries the film as far as it can, but sometimes the burden of the story is too heavy to bear. Noémie Saglio does a fine job writing and directing around the aberrant sexism of the source material (a 1970s Belgian comic series), but what she replaces the story with doesn't really fly.
