Expected and seen worse, but it was ok
It was an OK movie. I wish they showed more of the monster though.
Didn't know anything about the movie before going in and upon a quick check before, I put it on because Sawa was in it. It was a good movie, nothing great but I did spend most of the time wondering if I was watching some Lost spin off. That said, it's an interesting creature feature and Sawa is awesome, as always.
Went in totally blind and it payed off to some extent. Started off as this hike in the woods with something lurking behind the trees but it'll lose some people at the 24 minute mark because it shows too much of the villain and it became borderline laughable. A lot of CGI heavy sequences after that and it keeps being a little silly but at least it was different. Beautiful scenery, decent camerawork, and badass nightmare sequences. Extra points for those practical effects and creepy
The Whisperers masks
. The open wounds and corpses all looked pretty gross and realistic too.
I was expecting Devon Sawa to be the standout but he never outshined the lead Countney Halverson who did a pretty good job. There's a decent twist I didn't see coming but it's apparently in the synopsis which is a shame for anyone who reads it before going in. Too long in the second half with sequences that could've been removed and too much psychedelic cosmic montage before the final fight which was great. Special effects really shined and nice villain design.
