This is so not what I thought it would be but I mean that in a good way. Sabrina is funny and talented and both attributes are magically showcased in this 50 minute Netflix special which is jam-packed with special guests and skits.
If you are a Sabrina fan then I definitely recommend this one.
I’m a simple man: if Sabrina Carpenter makes a Christmas special, I watch it. Sabrina has a magnetic presence; she’s talented, charismatic, and, of course, very attractive.
The special has its highs and lows. The comedic sketches have a style similar to Saturday Night Live: somewhat silly and self-parodic. While I’m familiar with this type of humor, I’m not sure it works entirely well for audiences like the Mexican one. Overall, that part could have been better.
The musical numbers are, without a doubt, the highlight of the special. Sabrina shines in every performance, and the only guest stars that really excited me were Chappell Roan and Sean Astin. However, I feel like the special was missing something to make it truly memorable.
It’s clear that this special isn’t designed for someone like me, a 38-year-old man. Its focus is clearly aimed at a younger audience. Still, I enjoyed it. In a world where productions tend to be overly politically correct, this special is refreshingly relaxed in that sense. The fact that it stars a sexy blonde "Santa Claus" makes that quite evident.
Gave it a 6 but that was just for the Music.....everything else sucked, not funny......poor comedy sketches...
Seems made solely for the purpose of social media and clips to go viral. The skits were bad and I know the studio audience doesn’t have a choice, but that clapping especially during the first song was very cringe. Chappell Roan and Kali Uchis were the highlights besides Sabrina’s singing. Also this felt very cheap.
Boring not funny
3/10
