I really think this has just cemented Dua as one of the best pop stars of her generation.
I watched this because of the venue, the Royal Albert Hall, where I was just a week ago for a concert and it's a beautiful venue with great acoustics. Kinda just wanted to go back in time a bit.
Haven't been a regular listener or genuine fan of Dua. However, this full orchestra backed concert was just amazing. I feel like the full orchestra added so much dynamics and layers to her music; beautiful transitions, very nice looking ambiance and to be honest, kinda glad it was more posh and less dancing as she does on her tour. It was really more about the music and it shines with the orchestra.
The short vignettes throughout are also cute; she seems very lovely and down to earth and just genuinely a nice person.
Ah, if only it was longer!!! Maybe the streaming version will be the full concert?! Well, I already bought the LP of the concert.
Watch this!
I've had a rocky relationship with Dua Lisa's music over the last year but one of my best friends had already seen this and recommended it as something we watch together and honestly I loved it. The orchestra did well in complementing Dua's vocals. Some of these songs I wasn't as familiar with due to not having listened to Radical Optimism, (I know Houdini and Training Season) but the way she presented the songs, 'Maria' and, 'Anything for Love,' makes me convinced that I will really like that album and has got me interested in giving it a listen.
I think this special has served in showing another side to Dua and has made me interested in trying to get back into her music.
This sounded amazing. Loved the interview snippets. The real concert she performed like 16 songs. Wish we got more than the 7-8 they showed here. If your a fan of Dua worth watching!
