Agatha and the Storm

The story of a middle-aged bookshop owner, who becomes embroiled in a surreal swirl of romance and family secrets of infidelity, her energy levels registering in bursts of electrical interference - causing lightbulbs, traffic lights, toasters and computers to spontaneously spark and malfunction.
Silvio Soldini's third feature-length comedy, _Agata e la tempesta_ is a wacky film full of elements, characters and places that reflect the director's personal touch. Various stories, some of the most sympathetically improbable, intertwine within beautiful romantic frames. Several of the actors of whom one has grown fond from previous works, including the always splendid Licia Maglietta and the fantastic Giuseppe Battiston, reappear, along with new ones perfectly up to the mark. The result is a pleasant product in line with the previous _Le acrobate_ and _Pane e tulipani_, albeit at a slightly lower level of impact.
