If it's the 80s you gotta have two things, a montage and Richard Atherton playing a prick... And this movie had both! I'll forever watch this movie wherever it comes on!

A jerk college professor (William Atherton) uses smarter college students to build him a laser. So he can take all the credit. Also, so it can be used as a weapon.
Spoiler: I don’t get how they solved their problems but destroying his house with popcorn. Couldn’t he still decide to not let Val Kilmer’s character graduate ?

"Real Genius" is a decent, wacky teen comedy that capitalizes on the popular 80s trend of science-centric narratives. Val Kilmer delivers a standout performance as the charmingly irreverent genius, imbuing the film with a lively energy that elevates its high jinks. While the movie cleverly mingles humor with scientific brilliance, its blend of outlandish escapades and youthful ingenuity ultimately makes it an entertaining, if somewhat forgettable, piece of 80s cinema.
