I have seen many of Waynes movies, especially the westerns, but this one went under my radar until now. It is not your typical western like f.e. _Chisum_, _Sons of Katie Elder_ or _El Dorado_. More of a comedy in a western setting that at times tries to bring in some seriousness
(like McLintock talking to his daughter about her heritage or the part with the Indians)
. In runs a bit long, could have cut some scenes shorter or leave some out alltogether. Wouldn't hurt the story but helped the pace.
But alltogether an entertaining two hours with solid acting from both, Wayne and O'Hara.

I've only recently begun to appreciate John Wayne films. This film turns up often on Grit TV & I enjoy it more w/ each airing. I make sure I know when it begins so I can check-in this western classic whenever possible.

Bad news: Grit TV's no longer airing in Bakersfield. Good news: I found a full-length video of the movie on YouTube. So I better watch it as many times before the user takes it down.

Update: Grit TV, which aired westerns & action films before it went off the air in Bakersfield, has returned to my TV, but it only plays westerns; Charge TV is the one channel that airs action films & series (mostly by MGM/UA like any Sinclair affiliate). & sure enough it airs "McLintock!" a lot (& I'm fine with that).
