Private Valentine: Blonde & Dangerous

When fluffy, bubble gum movie star Megan Valentine suddenly finds herself broke and humiliated in the public eye, she wanders from the wreckage of a car accident and witlessly enlists in the U.S. Army hoping in vain that it will change her life.
Slightly embarassed to admit, but I kind of liked this movie. Sure it's a blatant rip-off of _Stripes_, _Private Benjamin_, and a little _Full Metal Jacket_ but it still works. Somehow Jessica is completely believable as a pampered movie star who is tricked by her circle of trustees and ends up joining the Army where she causes her platoon much grief and many extra miles of running. Of course she redeems herself in the end and everyone leaves happy. Cheri Oteri's character of Jeter reminded me of her _SNL_ days playing Rita DelVecchio, a grouchy Queens resident who was always yelling at the neighborhood children. Jessica does do the Army uniform proud at the graduation ceremony but there is nothing gratuitous in the flick. Give it a shot.
