This used to be one of my favorite films as a kid.
Felt a little nostalgic recently and rewatched the whole trilogy. I'm so happy I did because this movie truly still hold the magic that it had when I was a kid.
Love the casting, the plot and premise.
Still one of my favorite films of all time

Easily one of Shawn Levy's best. He has those magical one-off projects that bring so much to the 'diorama'. I can't believe this is from 2006 either. The vfx/sfx as well as the comedy, all hold up like a timeless relic. The practical work feels lost to modern standards. So do the ideas. An Egyptian Pharaoh, with a British accent, because he was last kept at Oxford Uni, has an 'alien' like tablet that works on the sun-moon rotation. It's such a smart excuse to mix education with entertainment. There's so much wholesomeness within the cast/characters/story, it makes my wax melt. One of my all-time comfort movies, like most movies Robin Williams is in.

Not always a fan of Ben Stiller, but this one is fun! It's one that's also nice to rewatch from time to time.

I didn't really give this one a chance the first time. I watched it through the lense of it being a kid's movie.

This time, I wanted to give it a real watch, and I was not disappointed. It had your typical dance party ending (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DancePartyEnding), but I'm not surprised because this movie probably came out around the height of that trend.

Each of the stars did a great job and were convincing. I was happy to see Robin Williams again.
The banter between Stiller and Dexter should have been cringe, but it ended up being pretty funny.

A good fantasy comedy based on a special idea, namely that the exposed artefacts in a museum come to life at night and have every night a new adventure. A nice comedy that works also because of the good cast. Good entertainment.

Much better than I remembered. There's just a LOT to enjoy here in this family movie. It's a kids movie about history. You have to ignore/handwave a degree is historical inaccuracy and/or nuance. Without going in to the many missed opportunities here. What IS there is well done. From a narrative point of view one might expect that the museum coming to life would be the primary force of antagonism. Surprisingly it isn't. Surprisingly education which one expects to be the key to solving the mystery of how to deal with the museum isn't the final resort but the first one. It drives every aspect of Larry's character. After the first night he realizes immediately that understanding the exhibits would be of invaluable help to controlling the museum. He seeks out books, the internet, and an expert (Rebecca), who doesn't serve as a direct love interest or a mistaken love interest.

The exhibits are interesting and characterized well. Larry is done well. It's an enjoyable romp.

Some funny situations, nice special effects and a solid plot. But Stiller will never be one of my favored actors!
